Following this upcoming Overland Expedion through the Balkans in Bosnia and Herzegovina we will be following some great offroad tracks through the Dinaric Alps and enjoying some of the most beautiful wildcamping spots throught Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We will be exploring the high plains and also along the Una River, Sava River and the Bosna River. And for those fishermen out there., We will definitely spend an evening or two cooking up our fresh catch.

Sampling local flavors is one of the best parts of overlanding through Europe. Along the way, we enjoy traditional dishes prepared with regional ingredients — from hearty Balkan stews to fresh Eastern European pastries. Whether it’s sharing a meal around the campfire or dining in a rustic countryside inn, good food and great company are always part of the journey.

Necessary Gear

Before setting out, make sure you’re properly equipped for the adventure ahead. We recommend durable camping gear, reliable navigation tools, weather-appropriate clothing, and basic recovery equipment for your vehicle. Our team will provide a detailed checklist and advice to help ensure you’re fully prepared for any terrain or conditions you may encounter.

NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT

Reliable navigation is crucial when exploring remote areas. Equip your vehicle with GPS devices, topographic maps, a compass, and satellite or radio communication devices. These tools keep you on course and connected, even when mobile coverage is limited. I personally use GAIA GPS for all my needs and GPX files.

RECOVERY GEAR

Essential for any offroad adventure, recovery gear helps you safely get unstuck in mud, sand, or snow. This includes items like a recovery strap, snatch block, winch, and traction mats, ensuring you can handle unexpected obstacles and keep your journey on track.

CAMPING ESSENTIALS

Long trips require comfort and self-sufficiency. Carry durable rooftop tents or camping gear, portable stoves, water storage systems, and first-aid kits. Having these essentials ensures you can camp safely and enjoy the journey, no matter how remote the route.
